How to Stop Snoring??

All you need to know about how to stop snoring

Snoring is probably one of our biggest problems. We might snore at night although we sometimes refuse to admit that. Well, we probably do not even know that we actually snore at night. This incident happened to me once. I was sleeping with my friends in a dormitory and the following day, when we all woke up, the person who slept next to me told me that I was snoring like a cow. Now, that was really embarrassing. The big question remains: How do we stop snoring?

The first thing you can do is to adjust your sleeping position. Certain sleeping positions put pressure on your breathing system and make you gasp for air at night while you are sleeping. If this happens, you are definitely going to snore at night. So, how to stop snoring while you are sleeping? Try to sleep on your side. By sleeping on your side, you are not putting any pressure on your lungs, which makes it easy for you to breathe at night. Another thing that you can do is to slightly elevate your head, with the help of a pillow, while you are sleeping to prevent your throat tissues from blocking the air passage. If you want to stop snoring, make sure you do not lie flat on your back.

Sometimes, snoring is caused by a temporary condition like cold or allergy. How to stop snoring if you are suffering from these conditions? Simple! By using decongestant or antihistamine. These items prevent nasal congestion. However, only use them as a temporary measure. Or if you like, you can gargle your mouth with some peppermint mouthwash. It helps relieve nasal congestion as well.

Next, try the nasal strips. If you have not heard of one, it is time to hit the pharmacies. Get one of these nasal strips to open up your nose to increase airflow.

Last but not least, you can also stop snoring by watching what you eat before going to bed. Whether you believe it or not, there are certain food items that would narrow your nasal and throat airway upon consumption. So, whenever possible, do not take food items that would cause you to relax before sleeping because once your body is in a relaxed mode, nasal airways become narrower and you tend to snore at night. Such food items would include alcohol, sleeping pills or chocolate.
